Dairy Products Export From India 2026 Market Overview & Trends

India's dairy exports show a strong recovery in 2024, reaching $455M after a significant dip in 2023. While the 2022 peak of $470.7M remains the five-year high, the 2024 volume of 108.3M units indicates robust demand and a return to the high-growth levels observed earlier in the decade.

In 2024, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia emerged as the primary destinations for Indian dairy exports, together accounting for over $135M in value. Bahrain also holds a significant share at $57M, highlighting the Middle East as a critical regional hub for Indian dairy products, followed by the United States and Bhutan.

Egypt leads as the fastest-growing emerging market with a 10.98% growth rate in 2024. Other notable emerging destinations include Bahrain (4.84%) and Morocco (4.56%). These figures suggest a strategic diversification of exports toward North African and Middle Eastern markets, where demand is accelerating more rapidly than in traditional trade corridors.

Butter is the clear leader in India's dairy export portfolio, valued at over $317.7M in 2024. This is followed by cheddar cheese ($29.6M) and milk powder ($24.6M). The high concentration in butter exports indicates a specialized market strength, while processed cheese and casein contribute smaller but significant shares to the total export value.
